Yar, sometimes I wonder why I bother plunderin' at all.

Here' some new stuff from the latest Gallery Girls event and a piece I made for an internal art contest at Autodesk.

Autodesk recently held an employee art contest. The only rules were that you have to use our Sketchbook Pro software. I figured it wouldn't look to good if I didn't at least enter something. They are having prizes though, one of which is the sexy new Wacom tablet.

In the time I spent making this, I realized I don't really care for Sketchbook Pro too much. I just kept wishing it was Photoshop the whole time; no color editing or layer blending modes. Lame!

The Gallery Girls event was a pirate theme this time, much better than the hippies. Too bad they don't have these more often.

Saturday in the city

Did a little sketching in North Beach on Saturday. Gotta work on drawing environments and architecture more.

SketchCrawl

Here are a few new ones from SketchCrawl over the weekend. After the initial confusion of trying to meet up with everyone, it was a great time. I got to see some people I hadn't seen in a while, and managed to get a sunburn as well. I've also thrown a few lunchtime sketches into the mix. I've been trying out my new brush pen; great for laying in large dark shapes. Still feels a bit "heavy handed" at the moment, maybe it's just me though.

Goddamned hippies!

Here are a few new ones from the latest Gallery Girls event in SF. The theme was 60's Love-In. I had a good time as usual, but I have to say this was the weakest theme they've had so far. I like it much better when they do more unusual themes. Can't wait to see what the next one is.

New header, and a few figures

Well, after a little more than a year, I finally managed to replace that ugly placeholder header. Much better; got a few new figure drawings as well. I hate those days that you just can't find your groove, when it feels like you're struggling to get the lines right. Saturday was one of those days. There's a certain flow I usually get going after the short poses, but it managed to elude me the entire day.

Spinning Bird Kick!

Here's the latest one from our bi-weely illustration. The word for this one was kinetic. I thought it would be a great opportunity to do a little Chun-Li fan art, to celebrate the release of Street Fighter IV. The only fighting game that matters! :)

New life drawings

Here are some new ones from Saturday's life drawing session at UC Berkeley. The do a 40 minute pose for the last pose of the day, which is a pretty long time for me to spend on one pose without painting. Gonna have to work on my rendering skills.
